The Day I Chose IT

People sometimes ask me why I chose technology.

The honest answer?

I didn't.

Technology found me when I needed somewhere to begin again.

After my third Army interview, I had no plan.

For years, I had organised my life around one destination.

Suddenly, that destination no longer existed.

It wasn't just about changing careers.

It felt like changing my identity.

I remember sitting with that uncertainty, wondering what I was supposed to do next.

Eventually, an opportunity appeared.

At that point, programming looked impossible to me.

The funny part is that I had actually studied Networking in college.

I spent three years learning it, believing that would somehow shape my future.

Instead, I walked into web development knowing almost nothing.

Looking back, that first step feels much smaller than it actually was.

I wasn't chasing a passion.

I wasn't following a grand plan.

I was simply choosing to move instead of staying stuck.

That decision quietly changed everything.

It introduced me to HTML.

Then CSS.

Then JavaScript.

Eventually, it introduced me to people who believed in me before I fully believed in myself.

Today, people sometimes see confidence when they look at my career.

What they don't see is how uncertain the beginning felt.

If those Army interviews had gone differently, there's a good chance this website would never exist.

That's still a strange thought.

Life doesn't always replace one dream with a better one.

Sometimes it simply gives you another chance to build something meaningful.

I'm grateful I said yes to mine.
