My First Window Seat
Some moments stay with you forever, not because they changed your life overnight, but because they quietly reminded you how much bigger the world really is.
My first international flight was one of those moments.
Destination: Bali.
I still remember the excitement at Tribhuvan International Airport. Everything felt new. Check-in counters, boarding gates, the announcements echoing through the terminal. I wasn't nervous about flying.
I was excited.
Almost like a child trying something for the first time.
When I reached my seat, I smiled immediately.
A window seat.
On Singapore Airlines.
Without knowing it, I had received exactly the seat I had always hoped for.
Outside, Kathmandu was wrapped in light rain.
As the aircraft slowly moved toward the runway, my heart started beating faster. I remember thinking about my mum, saying a quiet prayer, taking a quick selfie, and then simply staring outside.
The moment the wheels left the ground, something inside me became very quiet.
The city became smaller.
The mountains slowly disappeared beneath the clouds.
For the first time in my life, I was looking at Nepal from above.
It was beautiful.
Not because I was leaving.
Because I realised how lucky I had been to call it home.
That flight wasn't just taking me to another country.
It was showing me a perspective I had never experienced before.
Sometimes all it takes is a window seat to remind you that the world is much larger than the one you've been looking at.
